Finding something to do isn’t as easy as it should be, especially if the whole family want to do different things on the same day; or maybe you’re trying to work the activities around your free time from work. Whatever takes your fancy, though, there’s plenty to see and do around the North of England, with cities such as Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds putting on a real show at this time of year.
Michael McIntyre travels to Liverpool as part of his latest tour, stopping off at the Echo Arena (until 24 Nov), while The Pub Landlord himself Al Murray is performing at the Lowry Theatre in Manchester on Saturday (24 Nov).
Elbow and Keane are in the area on Thursday (29 Nov), with the former playing the Liverpool Echo Arena, and Keane the Manchester Arena. Elbow then take a trip along the motorway and play at the Manchester Arena on Saturday (1 Dec). If they’re not your kind of thing, Alanis Morissette plays the Echo Arena on Friday (30 Nov) as part of her Guardian Angel tour.
Looking further ahead, Justin Bieber is sure to attract his die-hard fans to his shows at the Manchester Arena on 19th February and the Echo Arena on the 24th, with Girls Aloud making their comeback in Manchester on 5th and 6th March. X Factor star Olly Murs is playing at the Echo Arena on 13th March next year.
Now we’re into the run-up to Christmas, festive markets are popping up around the north of England, but for sheer size, tradition and the variety of stalls on offer, Manchester’s Christmas Market will take some beating. Set around the city centre area with a main food court outside the Council offices, and with traditional German sausages and as many unbelievable hot chocolates and glasses of mulled wine as you can imagine, it’s a great experience for all the family – even more so at night with the city centre lit up.
