With a collection of over 250 cars and motorcycles on display, there’s plenty to see, and something for all ages  to enjoy. Aside from featuring many classic motoring models, the museum also features some of the most famous cars on screen, such as a selection from James Bond and Harry Potter.

If aviation is more your thing than cars, then Fleet Air Arm Museum, in Ilchester, will be the perfect day out.

With the museum housing four exhibition halls displaying over 90 aircraft, 2 million records and 30,000 artefacts  the whole family is bound to enjoy exploring this magnificent aviation experience. And, what’s more, as most of the attractions are housed indoors, it makes for the perfect all-weather venue.

For something a little bit more adventurous, try King Tut’s Treasure Hunt.

In this spectacular recreation of Tutankhamen’s tomb, the exhibition in Dorset is the perfect exploration and educational day out. Aside from discovering the tomb, it’s your job to solve the puzzle of the missing tomb and its treasure by following the clues and using them to crack the secret code.

Not only will kids love the interactive exhibition and learn about one of the most fascinating pieces of history, but the adults are bound to find it fascinating too.

Go Ape!, Dorset

Go Ape!

If you’re impatient for the summer to come back around, and are already thinking of fun things to do when it does, then Go Ape! in the Moors Valley Country Park is a good one to keep in mind.

Get up into the trees and experience everything a suspended adventure playground has to offer. Carefully make it across the high-wire crossing, swing from one tree to the next with the Tarzan-style agility, and whizz to the ground on the zip wires. Go Ape! is a great day out for everyone aged four years and above.

Splashdown, Poole and Devon


If you love to get your family together for a great day out, but feel like you’ve exhausted many of the option, there’s one suggestion we bet you’ve never thought of: indoor waterparks.
