Pop star Emeli Sandé is planning to end her solo tour with a homecoming gig in Aberdeen, it was revealed today.
The chart topping singer, who is from Alford in Aberdeenshire, is to play a special gig in the Granite City at the Aberdeen Music Hall on Friday, 19 April.
Emeli, whose latest album Our Version Of Events has sold more than 1.5 million copies, said:
“I’m very excited as always to be coming back and playing in Aberdeen, but this time will be extra special as we finish the UK tour there. It’s going to be a night of celebration and fun with family, friends and fans in my hometown.”
Emeli’s last appearance in the city was her headlining performance as part of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay in June, where she played a short set to fans at the city’s Castlegate. Her last full concert in the city, a sell-out show at the Music Hall, was in April 2012.
Martin Gallagher, the marketing officer with Aberdeen Performing Arts, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Emeli back to the Music Hall. Her concert last April was one of our highlights of the year. We’re expecting an unprecedented demand for tickets on Friday morning. It will no doubt sell out in record time.”
