Hit horror franchise Scream is getting its own small-screen spin-off, with a TV series of the successful slasher creation officially greenlit by MTV.
Wes Craven is in discussions to direct the pilot episode, and if this goes down well a full season will most likely launch in summer 2014.
Since first terrifying cinema goers with its first installment in 1996, the Scream movies have gone on to become one of the most successful horror film franchises of all time.
Directed by Craven, the movies have amassed a combined $600 million at the box office, while Scream 4 proved a well-received comeback in 2011.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the TV series will be executive produced by Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley – whose previous projects include The Hills.
It is not yet known if Scream creator Kevin Williamson, or any of the key cast from the films, will be involved.
