Elton John and his band have been revealed as the latest headline act to play London’s Hyde Park this summer, as part of the Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time series.
The flamboyant star will be supported by two fellow songwriting greats, Ray Davies and Elvis Costello, for the concert on Friday, July 12.
Tickets for the show go on sale this Thurday (23 May) at 9am from the official website.
Former Kinks frontman Davies and post-punk legend Costello will both play full sets with their bands as warm-up for Sir Elton, who is one of the most successful recording artists of all time, with hits like ‘Rocket Man’, ‘Candle in the Wind’ and ‘Crocodile Rock’.
The event has been heralded by organisers as a “celebration of great British and American songwriters”.
Other acts confirmed across the three other stages in Hyde Park on the same day are: Nick Lowe, Lucy Rose, Justin Currie, Tift Merrit, To Kill A King, Thea Gilmore, Scott McFarnon and Olivia Sebastianelli.
Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time has already announced separate concerts for the summer, featuring headliners The Rolling Stones (6, 13 July) and Bon Jovi (5 July).
