He designed the costumes for iconic sci-fi classic Blade Runner – and now industry veteran Michael Kaplan has hopped on board Star Wars 7.
Kaplan, who worked with new Star Wars director JJ Abrams on Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, said he was “excited” at the prospect of getting his hands on the Star Wars universe’s eccentric wardrobe possibilities.
Speaking to Clothes On Film, the designer said:
“I’m very excited to be working on Star Wars. I’m so looking forward to collaborating, once again, with JJ.”
Boasting an eye-catching CV, Kaplan won a BAFTA for his work on Blade Runner back in 1983 – his first ever movie assignment – and has gone on to lend his talents to such eclectic films as Se7en, Armageddon, I Am Legend and Flashdance.
The buzz surrounding Star Wars 7 is really hotting up, with Jonathan Rhys Meyers said to be in talks for a key role.
