Award-winning actor James Gandolfini has died suddenly at the age of just 51, while on holiday in Italy.
Tributes have been flooding in for the American star, best-known for his acclaimed lead performances in hit TV series The Sopranos.
Gandolfini reportedly suffered a heart attack in Rome, just days before he was due to attend a film festival in Sicily.
Well-liked and admired by peers and fans alike, the New Jersey actor’s movies included True Romance, Get Shorty, In The Loop and Zero Dark Thirty.
He won three Emmy awards playing mob boss Tony Soprano, widely-considered to be one of the greatest-ever television characters.
His last recorded role was for crime thriller Animal Rescue alongside Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace – which is due for release next year.
Following the news of Gandolfini’s death, many stars posted tributes on Twitter:
