Theatre review: Kiss, Cuddle, Torture

Edinburgh Fringe Scotsman review: Kiss, Cuddle, Torture at Just Festival at St John’s (Venue 127), reviewed by Fiona Shepherd

School cleaners Lynn and Sue and young pregnant supply teacher Lucy all have something in common, but have learned to keep their bruises well hidden, their cover stories at the ready and their self-recrimination to the fore in Jennifer Adam’s drama about domestic abuse.

Kiss, Cuddle, Torture has nothing new to say on a subject that bears repeating regardless, even if the script goes a little heavy on Making A Point, whether through the interactions of these all too believable women or in individual monologues where they recount the abuse they have suffered at the fists of their partners.
