Edinburgh Festival Fringe Scotsman review: Single Married Girl is at theSpace on North Bridge (Venue 26), reviewed by Claire Smith
Apparently based on a confessional blog this is a rambling, inconsequential account of a woman who tries to enjoy life on her own after a divorce.
The performer recounts dull stories of trips to Europe, working as an artist’s model, going to night classes, being maid of honour at her sister’s wedding.
The whole thing is delivered in a gushing, over-enthusiastic style which does not endear the performer to the audience.
The writing is clunky, awkward and infested with half-digested chunks of wisdom from self-help books. Several members of the audience were very close to falling asleep.
Until August 24. Today 8pm
