Resurgent action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger has been linked with the main bad guy role in forthcoming blockbuster sequel Avatar 2.
The actor, who previously worked with director James Cameron on the first two Terminator movies and True Lies, is said to be in-line to renew that partnership in the sci-fi sequel.
According to Latino Review, who have a history of breaking major movie casting news, Schwarzenegger will play a “bad guy human general” in the new film.
Earlier this year, the superstar hinted that he could be about to work with Cameron again, saying:
“Hopefully, there’s something down the line. I always look forward to working with him because Cameron is a very talented director.”
Avatar 2 and 3 are currently well into development, with Cameron revealing back in March that the sequels are “building fast”.
Released in 2009 to a mixed critical reception but an astonishing audience response, the visually-stunning Avatar became the first ever movie to gross more than $2 billion at the box office.
