The first official image of Hollywood star Christian Bale in character as biblical figure Moses has been unveiled.
Bale is playing the Hebrew hero in Ridley Scott’s new epic Exodus – which revolves around the Jewish slaves’ fight for freedom in Ancient Egypt.
The impressive supporting cast includes Sigourney Weaver, John Turturro and Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, while the script comes courtesy of Oscar-winning writer Steve Zaillian – who penned Schindler’s List, Gangs Of New York, American Gangster and Moneyball.
Bale, who already has an Oscar to his name and is tipped for further honours at this year’s Academy Awards, certainly knows how to pick striking lead roles. Exodus is scheduled to hit cinemas in December.
Biblical epics seem to be very much back in vogue now, with Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, starring Russell Crowe and Emma Watson, also set to land this year.
The story of Moses has been brought to the big screen before – the most famous version being 1956 epic The Ten Commandments starring Charlton Heston.

Do you like the look and sound of ‘Exodus’? Will Christian Bale make a good Moses?
