Noah screening cancelled – because cinema flooded

Was it a sign from the heavens? Or just a bizarre twist of irony?

In any case, cinema-goers in Exeter on Friday were left rather bewildered as the first showing of Biblical epic Noah was cancelled due to flooding.

According to the Exeter Express and Echo, staff at the Vue venue in the city discovered excess water when they arrived in the morning, and had to close to the public until 2pm that afternoon.

A cinema spokesman said: “We can confirm that there was flooding at Vue Exeter on Friday 4th April due to a fault with an ice machine.

“We are open for business as usual and are working with engineers to get this issue resolved.”

Darren Aronofsky’s ambitious movie, which opened across the UK that very day, stars Russell Crowe as the legendary hero who builds a giant ship to escape an apocalyptic flood.

There’s no word yet on whether staff had to construct their own giant vessel at Vue.
