Dan Nicholas’ Conversation Garden

Edinburgh Festival Fringe Scotsman review (comedy): Dan Nicholas’ Conversation Garden at George Next Door (Venue 430). Review by Ben Walters

There’s a daffy likeability to this very casual, very silly combination of talk show and sketch show, corralled by the chippy Nicholas and his mellower, smilier pals, Lewys Holt and Jack Britton.

Audience members are invited on-stage for three-minute interviews and bonkers challenges, which lends a frisson of collaborative unpredictability, and there are signs of a fruitful Three Stooges-style group dynamic. But the prepared material – including lengthy takes on Jurassic Park and Sliding Doors – too often feels stretched, flimsy or awkward.

Until 24 August. Today 1:20pm, more info
