Café Ruse

Edinburgh Festival Fringe Scotsman review (theatre): Café Ruse at Zoo Southside (Venue 82). Review by Claire Smith

More like a sketch show than a play, this production features hundreds of characters in lots of different outfits.

There’s loads of chasing around the stage, wig and hat changes, and a vague plot about an international art theft. There’s little coherence, wit or subtlety, and, apart from a few bits of physical comedy, not much to laugh at.

With such a mishmash of different genres and styles of performance, it does begin to feel like watching a game of charades with no clues and no answers.

Until 25 August. Today 2pm, more info
