Disney has announced that Anna and Elsa will be back for a Frozen follow-up in the shape of a short movie, out next year.
The plot for Frozen Fever will follow a simple story, with Disney explaining:
“It’s Anna’s birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever. But Elsa’s icy powers may put more than just the party at risk.”
All the main cast are expected to return, and top music and lyrics team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (who won an Oscar for ‘Let it Go’) will also be back with a fresh song.
Loosely based on Hans Christian Anderson’s The Snow Queen, Frozen became the highest earning animated film of all time this year. Our 5-star review dubbed it “warm-hearted, uplifting and constantly surprising”.
There’s no stopping the Frozen phenomenon.
Random House has announced two upcoming Frozen books written by Erica David, Anna & Elsa #1: All Hail the Queen and Anna & Elsa #2: Memory and Magic, and the animated hit will also be touring as a Disney On Ice stage show in America later this year, according to the New York Times.
