Karen O releases latest solo track ‘Day Go By’ – listen

Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O has unveiled the second single from her solo album Crush Songs, which suggest a sombre acoustic record.

‘Day Go By’ is the latest track to be announced from Karen O’s solo album, which is set for release on September 9. The previous video for single ‘Rift’ saw the singer declare that ‘love is a fucking bitch’ and the latest track continues in that melancholy tone.

The new track sees Karen O step away from the whirring guitar noises of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and opt for a more lo-fi stripped down sound, with just her voice and an acoustic guitar appearing on the single.

Crush Songs will be released on Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas’ label Cult records.

The singer has had previous solo projects under her own name – including the musical score for Where The Wild Things Are film adaptation – but this is her first commercial release without the backing of bandmates Nick Zinner and Brian Chase.
