Towards the end of the month, we all feel the pinch, don’t we? The fact that you’re counting your pennies shouldn’t stop you from eating a delicious breakfast, though. Nestled in Sheffield Students’ Union, Interval is a favourite spot with current students, graduates and just about everybody else too. Their wide array of breakfast dishes means that you can fuel up for the day no matter what your budget is. From vegan substitutes to meaty meals, there really is something for everyone. If the weather holds up, you can even eat your meal in the pretty garden out back. The best thing about this place? It is truly value for money. When you can get beans on toast for just £1.55, you can’t complain.

If you thought the Kelham Island area was all about beer, well, you were mostly right actually… Having said that, there are some places where you can grab a yummy home-cooked meal, without having to sup on any ale at all. The Grind Cafe is one of the most popular haunts in the district, serving fresh food and drinks to the good people of Sheffield. From healthy granola to delish dippy eggs, this is the place to get a light bite breakfast before you hit the pubs. Wellies

Nobody could have known just how popular Wellies would be when its doors opened for the first time just over a year ago. While there’s no shortage of cafes and restaurants in Sheffield, the owners of this interesting little shop have proved that there’s always room for one more. Serving cakes, coffee and meals, the cafe is proof that if you do something simple well, it just works. For under a fiver, you can get a hot breakfast with your choice of a tea or coffee. If you are expecting a meal laden with grease, though, you will be disappointed. The food from Wellies tends to be cooked to perfection, which means that they are a far cry from a greasy spoons dinner. The specials change on a daily basis so get yourself down there to see what’s on offer.
