Here in Sheffield, there’s no shortage of clubs and venues where you can spend a totally dignified evening.

No matter what your budget (or your music taste) there’s sure to be a club to suit someone of your unique persuasion.

Here are five of the best clubs the ever-diverse steel city has to offer.

The Leadmill

As one of the oldest music venues in the city, The Leadmill has seen its fair share of stars. From Pulp to Kasabian, anyone who is anyone has played at this venue. When the bands leave the stage, though, the place keeps on going until the early hours of the morning. The club nights at The Leadmill are infamous in Sheffield – after all this place promises everything from buckin’ broncos to sumo suits. On a Friday night in the steel city, there is truly only one place to be. With balloons, glow-sticks, popcorn and candyfloss, GAGA is a circus-themed dream.

The Corporation

What happens at Corp, stays at Corp (or how on earth would we sleep at night?). If you fancy a night filled with classic punk pop tunes, metal and rock music, you have to head down to the absolute mess that is Corporation. With quad-vods a plenty and jet black walls, this is a no-thrills place where almost anything can happen. On Wednesdays, the club transforms into a bizarre school (themed) disco. With pop tunes and sexy uniforms, Corp gets truly academic at least once a week. Careful, though! According to them, once you go, ‘you’ll never leave’.

West Street Live

When there are only a few pennies left in your purse, you can still have an incredible night out in the centre of Sheffield. Plastered across the walls of West Street Live, there are about a hundred super cheap drinks offers. With shots for £1 and a free shot with your first drink, you can enjoy the night without breaking the bank. As the name would suggest, the venue is located on West Street – right in the heart of the city itself. West Street Live often has live bands on as well as a live DJ at the weekend. (Sometimes, it even alternates between the two.) If you spend more than a tenner, you have had an excellent night at this place. We promise.

The Viper Rooms

If you think you’re a bit posh like, you will adore Viper Rooms. Ever-popular with students, this place is always a fabulous way to spend an evening. Tuesday nights are rather Risque (at least according to the name of the club night), with the event drawing in hundreds of students from around the city. The Champagne is constantly flowing and the chart tunes are always banging. This club is a safe bet for a night out in Sheffield town. Fancy getting free entry? If you follow the venue’s social media pages, they often run giveaways and competitions. Nice.

With a few massive rooms, there is something for everybody at Plug. The warehouse style building is home to one of the best nights out in Sheffield. With loads of drinks offers and pure indie music, there are many reasons to head on down to this venue. Friday nights only mean one thing at Plug – Propaganda. The club night boasts £1 drinks, a massive playlist and, yep, loads of students. The nights at this place tend to be extremely popular. Unless you want to end up queuing around the block, you should get queue jump tickets or turn up uber early.
