Whether it’s a hangover cure or simply a big eat challenge you’re after, Leeds is a city chock full of opportunity when it comes to belly-busting breakfasts.
We’ve no time for a delicate Eggs Florentine here, take a scroll through just five of the best pig out spots for breakfast.
Based out in Hyde Park, Popina’s is regarded as a thing of iconic beauty amongst the city’s hungry student population. Serving throughout the day, whilst it’s lunches are also famed for its value and hunger-busting capabilities, everybody knows the true wonder of Popina’s comes in the form of their Mega Breakfast. It’ll cost you £7, but should you finish, you’ll be rewarded with a spot on the ‘wall of fame’, and a keyring.

Another firm favourite among our densely populated student community, LS6 is a Headingley haven for hangover cures, with a breakfast menu crammed full of mountainous plates of the good stuff. Alongside your standard full English fare, they’ve got a wave of funky morning meals to give a go, including their famous Huevos Rancheros, an intimidating tortilla packed to the rafters with fried eggs, beans, guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo.

The Greasy Pig
— Piggy (@PigsTrough) July 7, 2014
Not to be confused by ‘The Greedy Pig’, The Greasy Pig is another popular student haunt, with a ‘cheap and cheerful’ outlook that puts the emphasis on filling their customers to the point of paralysis. Fitting, then, that they’ve christened their biggest breaky ‘The Paralyser’, which offers four portions of sausage, bacon, egg, hash browns and toast alongside all the regular mod-cons all for the price of just £8.99. Again, finish her off within 12 minutes and it’s on the house.

All you can eat breakfast for £3.99? It’s quite frankly ridiculous, and it’s available at The Woodside on the roundabout in Horsforth. Unlike many breakfast buffets, the beans don’t talk and the bacon doesn’t resemble something sinister, and let’s face it, no one can argue with unlimited hash browns.

The Greedy Pig

Based up in that burgeoning Northern Quarter, The Greedy Pig is one of the homes of Leeds’ best breakfasts, boasting a huge reputation as one of the city’s top hangover recovery hotspots. It’s much more than that, of course, with a regular ‘small plates’ dinner service under the banner of ‘the swine that dines’, but let’s face it, we all love that big, bad, early morning fry.
