The first trailer for Now You See Me 2 – the sequel to 2013’s surprise sleeper-hit – has landed online, and sees Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe returning to magic. As a clumsy illusionist.
Four years removed from the final instalment of the Potter series, Radcliffe is back to his wizarding ways, cropping up at the end of the new trailer and ballsing up a trick.
“Ta-dah!” he exclaims half-heartedly. The full trailer can be watched below.
The first Now You See Me used its cunning blend of illusion and showmanship to present a quirky take on the traditional heist movie, as a team of magicians pulled off daring raids during their shows, before rewarding their audiences with money.
That first film starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, who all return for the sequel, while newcomers to the star-studded cast include Lizzy Caplan and Jay Chou.
The film sees The Four Horsemen (Eisenberg, Harrelson, Franco, and Caplan) returning to the stage for their “second mind-bending adventure”.
After the first movie saw them outwitting the FBI and gaining the public’s adulation with Robin Hood-style spectacles, the sequel will see the team taking on Radcliffe’s tech magnate, hoping to expose his unethical practises as he threatens them into pulling off their most impossible heist yet.
Cue all sorts of bizarre shenanigans, including Jesse Eisenberg having some sort of Force-style control over the rain, and Dave Franco disappearing in a shower of playing cards before your very eyes!
The Step Up series’ Jon M. Chu steps up to directing duties.
Now You See Me 2 is set for a UK release on June 10, 2016.
