What could possibly make the anticipation for the latest Star Wars cinematic chapter even better? How about a themed-dining experience complete with a slice of pizza pie?
Mamma’s Pizza in Edinburgh is celebrating 30 years as a staple eatery in the city’s Grassmarket with a Star Wars themed birthday party on December 8 and some new editions to their menu.
The pizzeria will be firing their ovens into hyperdrive until January 31, with a number of Star Wars themed pizzas including: Ham Solo, Cheese-3-PO, BBQ-D-2, Boba Feta and Darth Veggie.
The puns are strong in this one.
If you’re wondering what is linking Mamma’s with a galaxy far, far away – then look no further than actor Angus MacInnes, who founded the restaurant in 1985 and also portrayed Rebel Alliance pilot ‘Gold Leader’ in A New Hope.
Here’s Angus rushing out to deliver two pepperoni pizzas in his X wing:
Paul Duncan, owner of Mamma’s Pizza, says:
“It’s not every day you have a Star Wars actor visiting your restaurant. So, we thought we would celebrate in style by launching our Star Wars themed menus and character-inspired pizzas to welcome the return of the Gold Leader.”
MacInnes himself will be along on the day, to answer your questions on River City, Captain Phillips and *that* sci-fi adventure.
There will be also be cooking demonstrations, blind pizza tasting competitions and Star Wars themed activities for kids.
As well as the birthday revelry, Mamma’s is offering movie-themed treats for diners arriving fresh from The Force Awakens (just show your ticket stub) as well as those donning some jedi robes for fancy dress.
