Starbucks found itself in hot water this week over the amount of sugar in its drinks.
A study found that the “Hot mulled fruit – Grape with chai, orange, and cinnamon” in a Venti size contained a teeth rotting 25 teaspoons (99g) of sugar.
With this in mind we thought we’d have a look at some treats that have a lower sugar content than sugar-packed beverage.
One large McDonalds Chocolate Milkshake
This classic shake has a total of 65g of sugar for a large.
Nine Tesco Pains Au Chocolate
Coming in at 10g of sugar each, you’ll be able to stuff nine of these into your pie hole for the same as the Starbucks drink. Bon appetit.
Three and a half slices of Morrisons Triple Chocolate Cheesecake
Three and a half of the recommended serving slices of this monster of a dessert will get you up to around the same amount.
Eighteen M&S Cheesecake Bites
These raspberry and white chocolate weigh in at 5.4g of sugar each
Fourteen Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Doughnuts
That’s a whole box plus two for good luck at 7g of sugar per doughnut.
