A Leap Day isn’t just an extra day in the calendar once every four years but also, according to tradition, the date women ask men to marry them.
If you’re planning on taking the plunge and popping the question on February 29, forget the flashmobs or romantic restaurants and try proposing in a more novel way – with a bottle of beer.
Thornbridge, the brewery based near Bakewell in the Peak District, have just the beer for a unique proposal – I Love You Will U Marry Me.
It’s a tribute to the iconic graffiti at Sheffield’s Park Hill flats, although sadly the path of true love didn’t run smoothly for the couple involved as they didn’t end up getting wed.
But the grand gesture remains a landmark in the city – and the beer has provided a new proposal opportunity which doesn’t involve scaling heights.
Other couples have chosen to use the beer to ask the most important question of their lives, so will you be joining them this Leap Day?
If you’d rather drink the beer instead, it’s a light blonde ale packed full of strawberries.
