A new record label has launched in Manchester with a unique proposition and way of working – it’s all for students.

New Street Records was originally founded in Birmingham in February 2015 and everyone involved in the project, from the team behind the label to the artists it signs, are all students.

Since its launch just over a year ago, it has been featured on the BBC and Capitol Radio and has worked with brands such as Spotify and O2 ThinkBig.

The team have now decided to expand into Manchester and aim to promote the best of the city’s student talent, offering them a platform to expand and grow.

Cameron Day, co-director of the Manchester branch, says:

“After hearing about the huge success of the label, I knew there was no better place to expand it to than my hometown of Manchester. We have so many talented artists here, and having the opportunity to promote and support these alongside a dedicated and passionate team of students is very exciting.”

To mark their launch in Manchester, New Street Records’ A&R have chosen their top Manchester student artists – so here’s a look at five tracks from acts that could be tomorrow’s big stars.
