Justin Timberlake’s celebrity-packed video can’t save a bad song
Justin Timberlake

Oh Justin. We still remember the heady days of ‘Cry Me A River’ and ‘SexyBack’ – but this isn’t anywhere near that.

Justin Timberlake broke out his latest material this weekend with a new single titled ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’.

The single is the first new J.T. material since 2013’s two parter The 20/20 Experience and is linked to the upcoming DreamWorks animation film Trolls.

You can listen to it here:

This ‘first listen’ video features some famous faces dancing around and grooving along to Timberlake’s chorus line of ‘dance, dance, dance’ – including Anna Kendrick, Gwen Stefani, The Big Bang Theory‘s Kunal Nayyar and unstoppable chat-show juggernaut James Corden.

Here’s the thing though – it’s just not a good song.

We see you Timberlake, putting together a positive single tied into a blockbuster animated movie – complete with a funky Daft Punk reminiscent bassline. It’s a novelty-sized hat away from a Pharrell Williams tribute act.

Hopefully this is just a bump in the road for the pop singer, who at his best, made you forget about his cheesy N-Sync past and accept him as a fully-fledged artist in his own right.

Less happy-clappy Disney and more ridiculous terms like ‘FutureSex’ please.
