Black Panther is Marvel’s surprise new breakout star
Black Panther

Marvel debuted a Black Panther web series yesterday – and already we want more.

The series, titled Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet, fills in the back story of the comic book franchise’s first ever standalone black superhero, who makes a brief, tantalising appearance in the latest Marvel movie Captain America: Civil War.

While the latest film escapade saw a cameo appearance from the web-slinging Spider-Man take much of the limelight, Black Panther (portrayed by Chadwick Boseman) has also proved to be a hit with fans.

A Black Panther movie is set into the Marvel Studios juggernaut film schedule for 2018, and this is something of an introduction for those who are unfamiliar.

The web series acts as a recap of the best-selling comic series which the character is based on, with the first two minute clip reflecting on the hero’s fictional homeland of Wakanda in Africa – as well as his position in that society.

It includes takes on the character from The Black Panther writer Ta-Nehisi Coates, as well as artwork from Brian Stelfreeze and a thumping soundtrack from Run The Jewels.

It’s a hugely captivating short clip, which is just screaming to be developed into a full animated series in the future. Get on it, Marvel!
