Want to own a little jar of music history? It will currently set you back around £65,000
The Stone Roses made their big return to Manchester last week, with a series of shows at the Etihad Stadium – supported by a rolling cast of artists including Public Enemy, The Coral, Buzzcocks and Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott.
Understandably, tickets for the homecoming gigs from the Mancunian indie icons sold out pretty quickly, leaving many hardcore fans crying on to their Adidas Gazelles.
But that’s where eBay user frogamus1969 comes to the rescue.
The ambitious salesman is offering a jar of air captured from the stadium gig on Saturday June 18.
“You are bidding on a Jar of air taken at the Stone Roses concert at Manchester Etihad Stadium, Saturday 18th June 2016.”
Writes frogamus1969, a user with 100% positive feedback.
“All the atmosphere, anticipation and ecstasy of 60,000 people singing their hearts out – captured forever in this glass jar.
“I swear if you place your ear next to the jar you can still hear a faint reverberation of Squire’s solo.”
The jar also comes complete with a ‘certificate of authenticity’, just in case anyone was questioning whether the purchase was money well spent.
With four days still left to place your bid, the jar has attracted 90 bids and is currently going for a staggering £65,900. That figure is worth repeated: someone is willing to buy air in a jar for £65,900.
Asked whether a fan could potentially get ‘high’ from the contents, frogamus1969 replied:
“there may be better options price wise for doing that….”
He’s not wrong.
