The Leeds Festival bill continues to hot up – and a certain Peep Show legend is perhaps the most exciting addition
Yes, Matt King – the actor behind the much beloved drug addled Super Hans – shall be dropping some “big beats” in character at the festival.

After announcing his plans to DJ this summer back in March, Hans went on to make his live debut at this year’s Glastonbury festival, where his controversial views on headliners Coldplay were presumably ignored by organisers.
We can only speculate as to what’s in store for Leeds, but the NME, reviewing Hans’ Glastonbury set, said:
“The hour long set is far better than an actual Super Hans DJ set would be. Instead of earbleeding techno and gabba, we get Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’, Blur’s ‘Girls and Boys’, Snap’s ‘I’ve Got The Power’ and a man on the side of the stage in a South American poncho and straw hat shaking a maraca and nodding his head.
“A man, we can only assume is the sunglasses-and-suit wearing Hans’ drug dealer. It’s neither big nor clever, but it is a whole lot of fun.”
Also confirmed in the announcement were DJ slots from Metronomy, Peace, Pulled Apart By Horses, and Hinds, as well as a live set from Fat White Family.
There will also be live sets from Honne and Loyle Carner, plus DJ appearances by Jen Long and Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens.
No word yet on whether Super Hans will be bringing Executioner’s Bong with him (or are they The Hair Blair Bunch now? We struggle to keep up…), or how the Big Beat Manifesto – “Big beats are the best, get high all the time” – will go down with the festival’s strict no drugs policy, but it’s exciting enough to make you want to run to Windsor.
Leeds Festival takes place 26 – 28 August
