The Grand Tour trailer

The battle for dominance in the world of streaming services continues

And, at the moment, it’s looking like the production of original content could decide who lands the killer blow.

Netflix have definitely upped their game when it comes to producing brand new entertainment, but Amazon Prime haven’t slouched by any means.

Here are all the most exciting Amazon Prime original shows, new and returning, on the horizon.

The Man in the High Castle

The Man in the High Castle Season 4 trailer screen grab

What is it? A dramatic rendition of a fictional reality where Adolf Hitler won World War II, and proceeded to install governments in the Western world, particularly America. Initially set in 1962, the show explores a United States smothered by Nazi oppression, a perfect backdrop for some intense drama.

Who’s in it? Alexa Davalos, Rufus Sewell, Luke Kleintank

When can I watch it? It’s coming back December 16

The Grand Tour

What is it? Jeremy Clarkson’s second shot at global fame and glory is essentially the new Top Gear in all but name (and likely to be way more successfully received than the Beeb’s own follow-up). As you can see from the teaser above, his Richard Hammond and James May entourage will be returning, so in theory it should be more of the same dream formula of motoring, silliness and ‘banter’.

Who’s in it? Jeremy Clarkson, James May, Richard Hammond

When can I watch it? Release date TBC

Sneaky Pete

Sneaky Pete

What is it? A crime drama that follows the exploits of titular protagonist Sneaky Pete, a con man who finds a way out of jail by assuming his cellmate’s identity. Dark and mysterious for the most part, we’d put our money on Giovanni Ribisi’s natural talent for comedy being used to tasteful effect.

Who’s in it? Ribisi, Shane McRae, Mike Houston

When can I watch it? Pilot is available now; release date for the first series TBC

What is it? A comedy/drama that follows Morton Pfefferman, a former professor of political science who decides to finally tell his family that he has always identified as a woman. Obviously, you’re going to get some pretty heavy themes in this one, but the comedy is extremely strong and really, it’s just about acceptance.

Who is in it? Jeffrey Tambor, Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass

When can I watch it? Release date for the new season TBC

Jack Ryan

13 hours

John Krasinski in war movie ’13 hours’

What is it? The latest incarnation of Tom Clancy’s famous super-spy, this 10-episode series on Prime is said to be an origin story of the character, centering on his head-to-head with terrorist cells. It’s the latest attempt to reboot Ryan, after Chris Pine played him in 2013 thriller Shadow Recruit.

Who is in it? John Krasinski (pictured above) is confirmed in the title role
