From seasonal tasting plates to late-night cocktails, here are seven new openings to check out.

Jöro – which will be built entirely from recycled shipping containers – looks set to be on the ground floor of the KRYNKL development in Shalesmoor. This urban restaurant will have a close bond with nature (from local farms to hunters and foragers) and you can expect small plates to share using hyper seasonal ingredients and locally sourced food when it opens next month.

Make No Bones

Make No Bones has run vegan food truck The Horsebox for quite a while, but has now made the leap to bricks and mortar with a cafe on Chesterfield Road. Enticing dishes such as a Summery Caesar salad with caper dill dressing, rice paper bacon and smoked tofu, or corn tacos with chipotle black beans and watermelon pico de gallo should tempt committed carnivores as well as vegan fans, and they also donate a percentage of their profits to charity.

Healthy fast food chain Wrapchic (the eatery that brings together all the exciting and vibrant flavours of Indian street food into an easy to eat Mexican format) has just opened a branch in Meadowhall. You’ll find burritos and wraps with a choice of fillings from mutton Madrasi to chicken Mughlai, along with breakfast wraps and quesadillas, and lassi to wash it down.

Kettle Black

New opening, Kettle Black, boasts a 2am licence on Ecclesall Road, housing a champagne terrace, private whiskey lounge, and a VIP mezzanine, along with a collective of DJs and regular live music. As well as an array of cocktails, you’ll also find local ales and bar snacks on the menu.

Sheffield’s newest burger joint, BurgerLolz, opened recently on Abbeydale Road, offering good old fashioned vegan comfort food – mac and cheese burger, pizza burger or chilli nacho burger on a seitan or beetroot patty, all washed down with a freakshake. They also offer tofu-based hot dogs, jackfruit pulled pork and quesadillas.

The Botanist

The Botanist (operated by The New World Trading Company) opens its 10th UK site next month in Leopold Square, and it looks like it’s going to be a big operation. The huge bar will cover 10,000 square feet across three floors of the Grade II listed building, and there will be a big outside area too. You can expect botanical cocktails and loads of gins and craft beers alongside a menu of deli, rotisserie and BBQ food, plus live music.

Bar & Beyond

Have a relaxed munch with food served at the bar from 5pm followed by a club experience with state of the art sound system and some of the best DJs around when Bar & Beyond opens in mid-September. Food includes dogs and burgers with triple cooked chips or sweet potato fries, and the bar menu offers a long list of cocktails and spirits alongside, pints, steins and pitchers of beer.
