The knowledge: The Manchizzle’s guide to Manchester
Manchester could easily lay claim to having the most active blogging community in the UK, and one of the first on the scene was The Manchizzle. US native Kate Feld set up the cultural blog in 2005 and founded the Manchester Blog Awards soon after, which expanded to become the Blog North Awards last year. If that wasn’t enough to keep her busy, she’s also a freelance writer and contributing editor at Creative Tourist and runs literary organisation Openstories.
Kate shared her Mancunian tips with WOW247…
My favourite place to watch a gig… The Night and DayMy favourite weekend hangout… The Castle
Best club night at the moment… The Smiths Disco at The Star and Garter.
My favourite place to relax… St Johns Gardens
Best place for a quick bite to eat… Salvi’s
Best place to dine out for a special occasion… MC at Abode
Best hidden gem… This n’ That
A Manchester artist who has caught my eye recently… Lonelady
My ideal day in Manchester… Breakfast at the Koffee Pot with the Saturday Guardian, a morning potter around vintage/art/magazine/record shops in the Northern Quarter, sunshiney al fresco lunch at canalside pub in Castlefield, an afternoon checking out art exhibitions, dinner somewhere good and a film at Cornerhouse.
