‘Thor 2′ gets new images and plot details
Superhero sequel Thor 2 has just received a couple of compelling new screenshots, while a number of intriguing plot details about the forthcoming film have also been revealed.
The follow-up to Chris Hemsworth’s 2011 debut outing as the heroic Norse god, Thor: The Dark World will see the title character reuniting with Natalie Portman’s love interest Jane, while once again dealing with troublesome adoptive brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
Speaking to USA Today, star Hemsworth and Marvel’s president of production Kevin Feige spilled the beans on the basics of the story.
Apparently, Thor and Jane’s relationship will be complicated, with Jane forced to travel to Thor’s home of Asgard for her own protection – and his lack of previous communication causing friction.
“Thor still has lot of explaining to do, and a lot of making up,” explained Hemsworth. “Even demigods end up in the doghouse, mate. So none of us is safe.”
“While Thor was a fish out of water on Earth in the first two films (Thor and The Avengers), this time Jane is very much a fish out of water in Asgard,” added Feige.
It was also revealed that there will be competition for Thor’s affections in the shape of warrior goddess ‘Sif’, played by Jaimie Alexander.
“It’s superhero action, but it’s the familiar territory of a love triangle where the parents think your girlfriend is wrong for you,” claimed Feige. “That’s how the best of these movies work.”
And if that weren’t already enough, the threat posed by Christopher Ecclestone’s villainous Dark Elf will force Thor to turn to Loki for help.
“Needing Loki’s help turns everything on its head,” says Hemsworth. “And it allows us to explore the underlying complexities of their relationship. It really ends up being a kind of chess match.”
Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba and Stellan Skarsgard will reprise their roles from the first film.
Thor 2, directed by Game Of Thrones helmsman Alan Taylor, is slated for release on November 8.
