‘Dodgeball 2′ is in development – first plot details emerge
Dodgeball 2 is officially in the works according to movie industry sources, with a script now underway and stars Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn set to return.
In true Thor 2 fashion, the long-awaited sequel to 2004’s hit comedy will apparently centre on former foes Peter LaFleur and White Goodman teaming-up to take on a bigger threat.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Stiller’s production company Red Hour Films has commissioned a script from Clay Tarver – who co-wrote the thriller Joy Ride (aka Road Kill) with JJ Abrams, and has also collaborated on comedy projects with Beavis and Butt-head creator Mike Judge.
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story was a gleefully silly sports movie spoof that featured Vaughn as the slobbish owner of a shabby, financially-doomed gym forced to compete in a Las Vegas dodgeball contest in order to save his business from the nefarious clutches of Stiller’s dumb, egotistical corporate fitness guru.
It received rave reviews, grossed $170 million on a $20 million budget, and had fans everywhere spouting the immortal line: “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.”
