Lady GaGa ranked ‘most powerful musician’

Despite not having released an album since 2011’s Born This Way, Lady GaGa has come out on top of the list of ‘Most Powerful Musicians’ compiled by US magazine Forbes.

Les Miserables and The Wolverine lead man Hugh Jackman was the highest ranked actor in the top 100 celebrities list, which is based on earnings, social media and press mentions.

Even though she had to cut her tour short due to a hip injury, offbeat star Lady GaGa still grossed over $168 million, and has over 38.5 million Twitter followers and 57.9m Facebook fans

Beyoncé is placed at number two after earning over $2 million for every date on her Mrs Carter tour, combined with lucrative sponsorship deals with Pepsi and H&M.

Madonna is third in the female-dominated music stakes, while Justin Bieber, who has endured a troubled 2013, is at number six.

Among the actors, the balance of power is in the men’s favour, with Robert Downey Jr coming second to Jackman, thanks in large part to his lead role as the Iron Man.

After a busy year with roles in The Great Gatsby, Django Unchained and the upcoming Wolf of Wall Street, Leonardo DiCaprio rounds out the top three, with Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane at seven and eight due to their work on Ted.

The highest placed actress on the top 100 celebrities list is Angelina Jolie, at number 41, with Oscar-winning Jennifer Lawrence at 49. By comparison, Jackman charts at number 11.

Talk show host Oprah Winfrey returns to the top of the 100 most powerful celebrities list.
