Ryan Gosling ‘in talks’ to play Luke Skywalker’s son in Star Wars 7

Acclaimed actor Ryan Gosling has reportedly met with Disney to discuss playing Luke Skywalker’s son in the new Star Wars sequel.

Adding to the intriguing buzz, it’s also claimed that teen pin-up Zac Efron is in the frame for a leading role – and that Leonardo DiCaprio has already turned a part down.

Such rumours may seem slightly hard to believe, but the latest gossip comes courtesy of Latino Review – who have a long history of landing legitimate scoops.

According to reporter Kellvin Chavez:

“What I was told for sure is the Gosling went in for Skywalker’s son. Yes, that’s right – Luke’s kid.

“Interesting thing is that Episode 7 is taking place thirty years after Return of the Jedi.”

Landing a critics’ favourite in the lead would do wonders for the new movie’s credibility, and with T0y Story 3 writer Michael Arndt penning the script and JJ Abrams directing, it seems reasonable that Disney would be looking for an equally heavyweight actor to sure up the cast.

Gosling, a popular figure with movie-goers and reviewers alike, will next be seen in violent crime thriller Only God Forgives. The film hits UK cinemas on August 2.
