Ashoka has been a family-run restaurant since 1980, and has endeavoured to create a dining experience that is second to none. There is a great energetic team working in the kitchens and front of house in both of the dining rooms, and they have taken great steps in building two wonderful venues in the heart of Eastbourne town centre with real personality. The Bear Inn

Bear Inn

237 Pagham Road, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, PO21 3QB (01243 262157)

The Bear at Pagham is a pub that does food. That is how landlord and landlady Graham and Suzanne Godwyn like to describe it, and I see no reason to disagree with them. It is not a restaurant with a couple of beer pumps – it is a full-on proper boozer with a pool table and a dartboard and a very nice dining room to the side, with a patio garden beyond. Mention the word ‘curry’ and most people immediately think of a tikka masala and naan bread. However, the talented staff at The New Curry Centre strive to provide diners with something different. The restaurant opened in 1968 and, since then, has earned a sterling reputation for its innovative and creative approach to Indian and Nepalese cuisine. (Read more)

Tajdar

tajdar

The Square, Findon, Worthing, West Sussex BN14 0TE (01903 872225 or visit www.tajdar.com)

We left the Tajdar more than content, it’s not often you can call a meal faultless but this really was. The service was first class, with all the staff attentive without being intrusive. It was easy to see they had a genuine passion for the business. The Tajdar will celebrate its eighth anniversary next month and on this evidence it will have many, many more years ahead of it.
