Geri Halliwell comeback single ‘sells 393 copies’
Former Spice Girl turned talent judge Geri Halliwell has well-and-truly failed to light up the charts with her comeback single – which has shifted less than 400 copies in its first week of release.
‘Half Of Me’ failed to reach the Top 100 in the Australian Charts; reportedly selling just 393 copies. Halliwell is now a familiar face on TV in the country, as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent.
In the somewhat bizarre video for the song, Halliwell can be seen cavorting with a flabby, half-naked man and a bloke in a lion suit.
The track was written with DNA Songs, who also worked on the winner’s single for X Factor Australia Dami Im. Ironically, Im’s song has just sold 44,000 copies and topped the charts.
Halliwell notched up nine Number One UK hits with the Spice Girls and sold more than 45 million albums worldwide.
Her solo career started strongly back in the late 90s and early 00s, with two Top 5 albums and four Number Ones. But her last album, 2005’s Passion, failed to make the UK Top 40.
