Susan Boyle says Meryl Streep may play her in movie biopic
We recently brought you the news that a big-screen Susan Boyle biopic is on its way. And now SuBo says that Hollywood legend Meryl Streep is in pole position to play her in the movie.
The Scottish singer, who shot to global fame via Britain’s Got Talent back in 2009, revealed that she would very much like Streep to step into her shoes, and that people are on the case.
Speaking to Metro, she said:
“I wouldn’t like to be in the film myself. I’d like someone to play me. Probably Meryl Streep – I understand she has been approached.”
Streep, who has three Oscars to her name and a record 17 nominations, recently portrayed Margaret Thatcher for 2011 biopic The Iron Lady.
Rumours of a SuBo film have been around for several years, but Catherine Zeta Jones and Glenn Close have previously been mooted for the lead role.
Just last month, One Chance – the story of Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts – hit cinemas, with James Corden playing Potts.
Boyle has sold more than 19 million albums worldwide, while her original, famous audition has now been viewed more than 130 million times on YouTube.
