Rhys Darby announces England tour dates
Rhys Darby, the New Zealand comic widely known for his role as Murray in Flight of the Conchords, has announced a new stand-up tour of England.
The Kiwi comedian, whose “band meetings” in the HBO sitcom were a highlight of the show, is no stranger to the stand-up circuit, and has previously performed at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Speaking about the new show, titled Mr Adventure, Darby said it is inspired by the places he’s been on his travels:
“From the misty mountains of Rwanda to the eerie shores of Loch Ness, I’ve attempted to see it all… If you’ve ever wondered what our adventurous comedy hero does on his day off…I’ll tell you. Expect tales of awe from the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, hilarious reenactment of his discovering a cryptid in Texas owned by a gun toting big game hunter, and listen in wonderment as I describe the gorillas in Rwanda and how to not get lost in the biggest mall in America.”
Darby, who has appeared in films Yes Man and The Boat That Rocked, will kick off his UK dates in St Albans on July 6, and brings it to a conclusion with two dates at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on July 23-24.
Rhys Darby will play the following shows:
6 July – St Albans, Alban Arena
10 July – Bournemouth, Pavilion
11 July – Bristol, Colston Hall
12 July – Cardiff, St Davids Hall
16 July – Newcastle, Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre
