Prince joins Nile Rodgers on stage to perform ‘Let’s Dance’ – watch

If scientists ever invented a funk-o-meter to detect levels of groove, the prospect of Prince joining Nile Rodgers on stage would make it go off the scale.

Nile Rodgers

But that’s just what happened when the Chic guitarist was performing at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans at the weekend.

The Purple One emerged for a guitar-shredding rendition of the 1983 David Bowie hit ‘Let’s Dance’, which Rodgers produced.

Watch fan footage of the performance below. It doesn’t really compensate for not being there, but it will still get your toes tapping.

Rodgers is a busy boy following his recent collaboration with Daft Punk and Disclosure. He has just unveiled a new solo single called ‘Do What You Wanna Do’, and is hoping to work on a new Chic track featuring “almost everyone” he has ever worked with.

We can’t wait.
