A TV series based on Richard Linklater‘s much-loved 2003 film School of Rock is to air on Nickelodeon.

According to the Hollywood Reporter the series has secured a 13-episode run and will hit screens in Spring 2015.

Jim and Steve Armogida will be writing, producing and show-running, while Linklater and original producer Scott Rudin are signed up as executive producers.

In School of Rock Jack Black stars as an unemployed, rock-loving slob who hits upon a rather unconventional idea for winning a Battle Of The Bands contest. Posing as a substitute teacher at a posh private school, he enlists his talented students to form an all-conquering group.

There’s no word yet on whether Black will be involved this time around.

Television not your thing? Don’t worry, Andrew Lloyd Webber is also working on a stage adaptation of the film. Yes, really!
