Today’s choice: Ute Lemper | Rachel Sermanni
A daily selection of two highlights from the Edinburgh Festival…
Music: Ute Lemper
The Hub, noon
The German singing star, above, is at the Usher Hall on Friday night, accompanied by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for a crowd-pleasing set of songs by Kurt Weill – including the Suite from Weill’s Threepenny Opera. Before that, there’s a chance to meet the lady herself at one of the EIF’s Conversations with Artists events at lunchtime today.
Music: Rachel Sermanni
Queen’s Hall, 7:30pm, more info
Rachel Sermanni’s Queen’s Hall shows are becoming an annual Fringe fixture. If you’re not from around these parts, let’s just say she is one of Scotland’s most beguiling singer-songwriters, equal parts Jeff Buckley and Liz Fraser. If those two had a daughter, this is how she might look and sound. Don’t miss.
