New York-based dance artist Vangeline studied conducting prior to creating this show, and she’s certainly mastered the art. Dressed in a skirt made from shirt sleeves, with white pebbles on the floor, she “conducts” a recording of Beethoven’s Fifth.

The Japanese art of Butoh, is one of dance’s more complex and subtle genres, and while Vangeline has clearly found her voice in that world, there’s not enough here to entice us to join her there.
