Edinburgh Festival Fringe theatre review: Sexmaniac. Anarchist Theatre Only For the Mentally Unhinged, reviewed by The Scotsman’s David Pollock

★★

If you’ve ever wanted to see a naked man attempt to have sex with a cored apple or a piece of liver, or deliver a monologue about his mother telling him to get out of the bathroom while gripping his penis in the direction of the audience, or perform with a big close-up of a donkey’s backside on the screen behind him, then this is the show for you.

If not, it definitely isn’t. There’s a bravery to such a show, and suggestions of manic, possibly unbalanced libido and hinted-at abuse are there, but not enough to erode the sense of self-indulgent exhibitionism.
