Edinburgh Festival Fringe theatre review: Bench, reviewed by The Scotsman’s David Pollock

★★

Like a bunch of drama school exercises, this series of sketch theatre pieces essayed by Corner Talk’s half male, half female group of performers using just one bench as a prop varies wildly in quality. For all that there are brief moments of sharpness and poignancy – a scene where a father takes his young, uncomprehending daughter to her mother’s memorial bench is lovely – it’s hard to get past passages of overacting and clunky writing.
