The world erupted when Edward Snowden joined Twitter.
How will his return to circulation affect international stability? Will Western civilization have to accommodate for his presence and ever-growing popularity? Would his scissor-hands be any use to us?
I’m guessing you noticed the obvious mistake there, which is more than U.S. news host Yasmin Vossoughian managed the other night on The Daily Share.
In probably the greatest trolling incident in history, Twitter user Jon Hendren was asked by the show to appear, and talk about Snowden’s new Twitter account. Why they asked a man with the Twitter handle @fart to be the voice of expertise we don’t know, but that’s literally what happened.
Hendren then went on to talk about Johnny Depp’s iconic movie character Edward Scissorhands, without exactly mentioning his name, leading the host to believe he was referring to infamous whistle blower Edward Snowden instead
Sample Quote: “But to cast him out, to make him invalid in society simply because he has scissors for hands — I mean, that’s strange. People didn’t get scared until he started sculpting shrubs into dinosaur shapes and whatnot.”
And she still didn’t click on. Congrats to Jon, for pulling the funniest stunt of 2015, and injecting some humour into this overly sensitive issue.
