This cavernous new Bavarian bier palace from the Trof family opened with much fanfare in October. They’re open from 11am for brunch or lunch, and through to 2am, with regular live music. Albert’s Schloss is Manchester’s first Tankovna, serving the freshest Pilsner this side of the Danube along with ten heritage brews on the taps, Alpine cocktails, homemade Schnapps, and an uber wine list. Expect cracking steaks, heavenly burgers and seasonal specials together with Bavarian flatbreads, sausages and schnitzel. Plus they have a Push for Prosecco button on the table.

On 30 Oct, King Street welcomed its newest and highly anticipated exclusive bar and restaurant. More than £1 million has been invested into luxurious bar and eatery Quill, with Head Chef Curtis Stewart – a 27-year-old who has worked in fine dining establishments, multiple 4 AA Rosette and 3 AA Rosette restaurants and a number of venues with two Michelin stars. The menu follows a modern British theme with European influences – expect refined dining without the formality of formal dining. You can also enjoy bespoke cocktails in the bar on the ground floor.

Just opened in the stunning Barton Arcade, the deli at Lunya offers the very best Catalan and Spanish food and drink, including three different hams carved on the bone, over 40 Spanish cheeses and all of the essentials (and obscure ingredients) you would ever need to create your own taste of Spain. The bar has the UK’s largest array of Spanish gins, beers, wines and spirits, whilst the restaurant offers award winning takes on traditional Catalan dishes as well as modern and innovative twists that you would expect to see in Barcelona’s best restaurants and bars. We’ve heard they’ll even be offering Catalan Hotpot and Manchester Tart Catalana.

Italian restaurant Vapiano will open its first UK restaurant outside of London on 27 Nov, in the Corn Exchange. Famed for its freshly made pizza dough and huge variety of pasta and salads alongside the best buffalo mozzarella, meats and cheeses, the 400 cover restaurant – with a team of 40 chefs – will span two floors and boast a 100-year-old olive tree and fresh live herbs on the tables, and you’ll be able to watch your chosen dish being cooked to order in front of you. Intriguingly, you’ll be able to pay using a smart card system – one per customer – meaning everyone pays for what they order, avoiding the need for tricky bill splitting at the end of the meal.
