Prepare yourself for a suplex to the ears, a half-nelson to the senses and a final powerbomb to the mind – Billy Corgan has created a wrestling show theme tune.
The Smashing Pumpkins frontman inexplicably became a Senior Producer of Creative and Talent Development at the wrestling promotion TNA, back in April 2015.
For those unfamiliar with the world of men grappling in tights, TNA is professional wrestling’s second biggest franchise, dwarfed by the multi-million dollar WWE.
Corgan’s track ‘Roustabout’ started life as a Smashing Pumpkins song before developing into a ‘show-opening’ theme song (we’re sure TNA must be delighted to get a Pumpkins cast-off from their Senior Producer) and is, sadly, instantly forgettable.
Listen to ‘Roustabout’ below:
The synth-led track breaks the cardinal rules of music in wrestling – that it needs to big, rock-heavy and blindingly obvious.
Sorry Billy – but Wyclef Jean and The Rock remain the greatest tag team in the world of music-meets-wrestling.
