There’s a month left to fund Bristol’s first cat cafe

If you hadn’t heard already in our post about 15 exciting things to look forward to in Bristol in 2016, the city’s first cat cafe could very well be coming soon.

Unlike other cat cafes, You & Meow Cafe (yes, seriously) is aiming to create a “Japanese Zen Garden atmosphere” and will encourage their customers to relax de-stress when they visit.

There’ll even be meditation classes held once a week at the cafe and, yes, the cats are invited.

On top of that, you’ll be able to enjoy some gourmet tea, coffee and cake as you get to know the cafe’s fluffy residents. You might even find yourself taking a four-legged friend home after your visit.

You & Meow hope to eventually re-home their cats with loving families – all of their rescued moggies and will be up for adoption.

The brains behind You & Meow Cafe are aiming to crowdfund the venture through Fundsurfer – similar to Kickstarter – and have set themselves the whopping end goal of £65,000. At the time of writing the page has raised £1,735 and the fundraising campaign will end on Sunday February 21st, giving pledgers just over a month to shell out more than £63 grand.

Those donating can pledge anything from £3 to £900 at a time, with rewards ranging from a chance to win a ticket for the cafe’s grand opening to a hundred cat cafe vouchers to be used whenever you like.

According to You & Meow’s Fundsurfer page, though, this is an ‘all or nothing project’ and all pledges will be cancelled if the cafe do not reach their £65,000 target. The plan is for the cafe to open in Spring this year, but only if enough money to lease and refurbish city centre premises is raised.
