It’s been 20 years since we first watched Mark “Rentboy” Renton tear down Edinburgh’s Princes Street to the pumping drums of ‘Lust For Life’ in Trainspotting.
Since that time, the Danny Boyle film based on Irvine Welsh’s novel has become a cultural phenomenon, a true masterpiece of the 1990s that injected some gritty vitality back into British cinema.
Although the main characters were a band of deeply-flawed heroin addicts, Boyle’s direction ensured there was something human and loveable amidst all those syringes and wayward pint glasses.
